Learn about our mission, the community we serve, and the dedicated people making education possible for vulnerable children in Ethiopia.
In January 2022, Mary Puoch established Gambella Riverside Academy with a vision to provide quality education to the most vulnerable children in the Gambella region. Through the support of friends both internationally and nationally, she transformed her dream into reality.
The school was built on land owned by Sara Nanchiwakun, spanning 4,000m² in the heart of the Nuer community area. Today, it stands as a beacon of hope for 200 students, including 105 orphaned children.

Gambella Regional State is located in southwestern Ethiopia, bordering South Sudan. With a population of 306,916 people, it's home to five indigenous ethnic groups: Anywa, Nuer, Majang, Opo, and Kumo.
Our school serves primarily the Nuer community, where families face significant challenges including poverty, displacement due to conflicts, and limited access to education. Many families can only provide one meal per day for their children.
Help us continue Mary Puoch's vision of providing quality education to vulnerable children in Gambella.
